The Executive Director is the academic and administrative leader of the department responsible for managing all department activities under the direction of the Dean of the College of Health Professions and Human Services. This role oversees the continued development, growth, and management of the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree program.
Primary Responsibilities:
Department Administration Responsibilities
- Manages the preparation, supervision, and monitoring of faculty teaching schedules and workloads.
- Provides managerial leadership in program planning and interdisciplinary development.
- Manages the hiring process for faculty, staff, and adjuncts consistent with accreditation and University policies.
- Ensures timely submission of all ARTP and A-328 applications.
- Manages and coordinates instructional and human resources policies.
- Manages new course development and updates student reference materials.
- With University fund-raising offices, sets and manages external fund-raising operations.
- Recommends program options and supervises project coordinators.
- Prepares and manages the academic advisement plan.
- Ensures compliance with University policies on release time and faculty loads.
- Manages department interactions for evaluating program and faculty performance.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Operational Responsibilities
- Prepares and manages the department budget.
- Manages the distribution and allocation of department resources.
- Recommends travel, training, and resource allocations.
- Supervises University and department policies on office hours and evaluations.
- Manages department curricula and academic committees.
- Manages program assessment and review activities.
- Manages student grievances.
- Provides support to University governance structures.
- Facilitates scholarly conferences.
- Supervises and evaluates non-teaching staff and faculty.
- Performs other related duties as required.
General Responsibilities
- Manages academic, administrative, and fund-raising objectives.
- Develops policies for student outcomes and implements improvements.
- Ensures compliance with contractual and ethics obligations.
- Manages duties consistent with guidelines and policies.
- Develops policies for course and program revisions.
- Assists in drafting and recommending policies.
- Performs other related duties as required.
ARC-PA Accreditation and Compliance Responsibilities
- Actively pursues and secures accreditation from ARC-PA.
- Adheres to all accreditation standards.
- Undergoes regular self-assessment.
- Submits timely reports and documentation.
- Facilitates accreditation visits.
- Addresses recommendations and stipulations.
- Maintains open communication with the accreditor.
- Allocates necessary resources.
- Disseminates accreditation information.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Teaches in-load courses up to 12 credit hours over a 12-month period.
- May include various session teaching assignments.
This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree minimum and at least three years of full-time higher education experience.
- Physician Assistant (PA) with current or emeritus NCCPA Certification.
- Other professional experience in related fields preferred.
- State Licensure and 2-5 years of clinical practice as a PA preferred.
