JOB DUTIES
Reporting to the Associate Provost, full-time faculty support student learning by utilizing appropriate college resources, instructional materials, facilities, and educational technologies to enhance teaching effectiveness and promote student success. MCCC is seeking a full-time faculty member to support the Aviation Program. This position is responsible for preparing and delivering classroom instruction for assigned aviation courses and serving as an engaged and collaborative member of the College community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaches lecture-based aviation courses using various instructional technologies, including multimedia presentations, computer-based tools, videos, and the College's learning management system.
- Evaluates student learning through assessments, assignments, and examinations, and provides timely, constructive feedback to support student success.
- Provides academic advising and mentoring to students individually and in groups; demonstrates a commitment to serving students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Delivers hands-on laboratory and simulation-based instruction and provides active supervision during applied learning activities.
- Maintains regular office hours to support student consultation, tutoring, and academic guidance.
- Delivers instruction in multiple modalities—including in-person, online, and hybrid—based on course and departmental needs.
- Demonstrates excellence in teaching and supports the comprehensive community college mission, including access, equity, and workforce preparation.
- Participates in curriculum development, program review, assessment of student learning outcomes, student advisement and placement, and departmental planning.
- Serves on college-wide committees such as the Division/Department Personnel Committee (DPC), governance bodies, and divisional groups, contributing to institutional initiatives.
- Engages in leadership opportunities such as serving as Department Chair, Program Coordinator, or Grant Program Director/Principal Investigator as appropriate.
- Tracks and reports student performance and attendance data using Microsoft Office and relevant instructional systems.
- Maintains current knowledge of aviation industry standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure instructional relevance.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must have a flexible work schedule which would include teaching course loads on evenings and weekends.
- Will be expected to work on both campuses, JKC and West Windsor.
- Please note that assigned tasks and responsibilities span both campuses for all MCCC positions.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

- Ability to have final course grades calculated and submitted by the semester deadline as needed.
- Ability to deliver engaging, clear, and organized lectures.
- Ability to establish rapport with students, faculty, external stakeholders and staff.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback to foster student improvement.
- Ability to address classroom challenges, resolve conflicts, and adapt to changing circumstances in a dynamic academic environment.
- Effective use of instructional technology in the college classroom.
- Possess a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the community college level.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn, adopt new technologies and explore innovative pedagogy.
- Be highly collaborative with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Have enthusiasm for teaching
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's in an aviation-related field from an accredited institution with a willingness to obtain a Master's within 5 years, as required for tenure.
- At least five (5) years of teaching aviation-related courses
- Higher Education teaching experience
- Instructional experience teaching both in-person and online courses
- Performing flight instruction related to the CFI and CFII licensing
Preferred:
- Master's degree in an aviation-related field from an accredited institution.
- Community College teaching experience.
- FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate Single and Multi-Engine Land.
