Family Advocate - Benewah County
Make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families across North Idaho. As a Family Advocate with North Idaho College Head Start in St. Maries and Fernwood, you’ll play a key role in supporting family well-being, helping parents identify goals, connect with resources, and actively engage in their child’s early education.
In this position, you’ll build trusted relationships through regular home visits, assist families in setting and achieving personal and educational goals, and provide guidance and referrals to community resources. You’ll also help with family recruitment and enrollment, participate weekly in the classroom, facilitate parent meetings, and maintain accurate records to ensure quality services for every family. Working collaboratively with teachers, health staff, and community partners, you’ll support both children’s development and family success.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Level I: Associates degree in Social Services.
Level II: Bachelors degree in Social Services.
Experience
Experience as a staff or volunteer in a preschool classroom.
Required License and/or Certifications:
• Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system.
• Meet all training and certification requirements for childcare licensing and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
• Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
• Pass an enhanced background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work.
Starting pay range: $20.50-$21.50
Work Site Location: Head Start - St. Maries/Fernwood
Work Schedule: 69% Full Time, July-June
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check and proof of degree if required for this position.
