About The Team

Your New Role!
Play a key role in caring for livestock and supporting the daily operations of our university farms. You’ll handle animal feeding, watering, movement, cleaning, and general farm maintenance, while also guiding work‑experience students.
You’ll keep accurate records of farm activities—including livestock movements, chemical applications, seeding, hay production, and pest and disease management—and use a range of tools and machinery to keep the farms running smoothly.
Your Key responsibilities will include –
Support daily animal care, feeding, welfare checks, shearing, and cleaning, reporting any health concerns promptly.
Carry out livestock husbandry tasks including drenching, vaccinating, tagging, castrating, tail docking, weighing, and NLIS scanning.
Muster, draft, load and unload livestock using low‑stress handling techniques.
Operate and maintain farm machinery such as tractors, buggys, forklifts, mowers, balers, seeders, and sprayers.
Clean and maintain pens, cages, runs, and general farm areas.
Build and repair fences and yards, including electrical fencing.
Assist with animal movements and maintain accurate farm and biosecurity records.
Perform machinery adjustments and report faults.
Support breeding programs (natural and A.I.) and complete stocktakes.
Clean equipment, manage waste, and undertake general farm maintenance.
Assist with chemical spraying, super spreading, seeding, and hay‑making.

What you’ll bring to the role:
Completion of Year 12 or Certificate III with farm experience or equivalent.
Experience in handling livestock, livestock husbandry, welding (Mig, Tig, ARC and Oxy), chainsaw, mower, whipper snippers and other small machinery handling knowledge and maintenance (chainsaw Ticket required or ability to obtain one).
Experience in animal welfare, feeding and cleaning (observe livestock for signs of illnesses or health issues) and report any unusual observations immediately to the Farms Manager.
Have a valid forklift ticket and HR licence or ability to obtain one.
Experience and understanding OH&S guidelines / JSA's / SOP's as well as using personal protection and safety equipment as required by the employer, following safe work procedures, knowing, and complying with all regulations, reporting any injury or illness immediately to the supervisor or manager.
