Job Summary
The Office of Student Life is seeking an Events and Operations Coordinator for the division of Student Involvement to assist in event logistics, student leadership development, and to support the overall Division of Student Life. This live-in campus position allows for support on late night and weekend events, while serving approximately 4-weeks per semester in the Residence Life duty rotation, which involves monitoring residential halls in the evening hours, completing rounds, and supporting the RA staff. The Events and Operations Coordinator will report to the Director of Student Involvement. This is a 12-month, full-time position.
Duties and Responsibilities
Student Involvement:
- Support the Director of Student Involvement to promote the positive growth and development of students affiliated and interested in all student organizations by assisting with budget management, enforcement/development of procedures and policies, helping plan, organize and monitor events, activities and programs that contribute to the development of students.
- Collaborate with events and activities produced by all divisions of Student Life, including but not limited to; Campus Recreation, Campus Activities Board, Residence Life, and the Dean of Students. Some specific events include: Orientation (Fall, Spring, and Summer), Family & Friends Day, Student Leadership Awards and senior day events;
- Advise clubs and organizations within the department of Student Life, this includes support of executive and general boards. Additionally, work collaboratively with the Director of Student Involvement on the development, implementation, and enforcement of Student Life clubs and organization policies and procedures.
- Manage on-campus marketing mediums utilized by student organizations and the campus community including bulletin boards, digital screens, print, e-newsletters, outdoor signage, etc.
- Utilize software-based organization event management systems, 25 Live and Involve;
- Responsible for support, attendance and participation in Student Involvement and Student Life meetings and programs, and representation on various committees or at special events, including those on evenings and weekends
- Assist the Office of Student Life with administrative tasks including but not limited to: inventory and ordering of supplies, budget management, credit card reconciliation, and accounts payable;
- Assist the Director of Student Involvement and the overall Student Life team with the management of the Fels Student Center. Work collaboratively with the team to establish a vision and purpose for the Herd Quarters, providing resources and oversight as necessary.
- Supervise student staff and/or graduate assistants (GAs) on a need basis;
- Serve on assigned departmental and campus wide committees.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned.
Residence Life
- Serve in the Residential Life duty rotation for after hour rounds of residential halls (approximately 4-weeks total per semester). This includes interacting with students to ensure they are following all college policies, enforcing college policies, supporting the RA staff, and documenting policy violations as necessary.
Preparation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Energetic, student-centered, and team-oriented professional who has demonstrated leadership in higher education;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to manage projects to successful completion;
- High level of comfort with frequent student contact and ability to advise diverse student groups;
- Experience in handling multiple priorities and handling conflict;
- Competence in fiscal resource management;
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Standard office hours are 8:30 m. to 4:30 p.m. These hours are flexible with the component of performing Residential Life on-duty responsibilities.
- Frequent evening and weekend hours are required.
- Bachelor’s degree and experience in student activities or residential life
- This is a live-in position. A one-bedroom apartment in one of the Residence Halls will be provided in this role. There are no expenses related to living on-campus.
