Salary: $58,000 - $63,000
Binghamton University's Auxiliary Services is seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative, and motivated Financial Manager to support its growing and dynamic portfolio of campus partnerships. This position plays a critical role in managing financial operations and reporting for a variety of revenue-generating and service-based enterprises, including dining services, the bookstore, vending, trademark licensing, laundry, banking partnerships, and child care services. Auxiliary Services also oversees the Binghamton Auxiliary Services Corporation (BASC) and affiliated operations such as the Lane-Starke Tennis Center and a developing off-campus cold commissary facility.
The Financial Manager will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of financial records, conducting reconciliations and journal entries, overseeing banking and credit operations, preparing audit documentation, and supporting decision-making through comprehensive financial analysis and reporting.

Financial Operations
- Record journal entries, reconcile accounts, and manage credit card deposits and bank transfers using Financial Edge accounting software.
- Monitor and manage revenue collection, including point-of-sale system configuration, cash handling procedures, and tuition-related credits.
- Maintain accounts receivable, ensuring timely collections, proper application of payments, and resolution of discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow) and ensure compliance with university, state, and federal accounting standards.
- Provide financial reporting, analysis, and insights to support leadership decision-making and auxiliary service operations.
Vendor and Purchasing Management
- Oversee accounts payable, ensuring accurate transaction records and timely payments.
- Manage vendor relationships by collecting and maintaining required documentation such as W-9s and payment details.
- Reconcile vendor aging schedules and address outstanding issues as needed.
Audit, Compliance & Tax
- Prepare documentation for internal and external audits and ensure timely responses to audit inquiries.
- Coordinate insurance needs and reporting with the University's insurance agent, including annual policy renewals and audits (e.g., workers' comp).
- File annual sales tax returns and ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and accounting principles.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with campus partners to understand financial reporting needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Communicate financial data clearly to leadership and participate in strategic discussions.
- Support cross-departmental initiatives, events, and programs, contributing financial expertise to improve business functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- At least one year of professional or paraprofessional experience in an accounting-related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of internal controls, risk management and audit processes
Preferred
- Advanced degree in a related field
- At least one year of professional experience in accounting or a related field
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting standards
- Proficiency with financial software such as Financial Edge (Blackbaud) and Banner
- Familiarity with university auxiliary or service-based operations
- Experience working with NYS financial systems and accounting structure
