Fire Alarm Systems Monitor I - 527292
Job Summary: The Fire Alarm Systems Monitor I assists with inspections, testing, repairs, and monitoring of services in fire safety under close supervision. Aids those working in the field relating to fire safety maintenance and inspections of equipment. Monitors the fire alarm network during normal operating hours for troubles, notifications, etc. and communicates with contractors, fire alarm technicians, facility personnel, project engineers, and others regarding these issues. Provides assistance to other EHS functions on a regular basis.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions. Must be able to maintain communication accessibility 24/7, and may be required to respond to emergency situations after hours.
Skills and Knowledge: Familiarity with the requirements of IFC and NFPA standards as they relate to fire safety. Ability to take detailed notes and maintain documentation. Good verbal communication skills. Ability to perform detailed work with accuracy. Ability to operate basic computer software such as database and word processing.
Preferred Qualifications: Emergency dispatch experience. Certified Emergency Telecommunicator (or equivalent).
