Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, implements and maintains the written Indoor Air Quality Building Inspection Program. Conducts and oversees inspections of University Buildings for mold and other biological materials. Performs visual inspections of building indoor spaces and HVAC systems, and collects samples as needed to evaluate the extent of impacted materials from mold and other biological hazards. Conducts and oversees radon testing and mitigation in all occupied University Buildings.
- Collaborates with other Facilities departments to remediate and/or mitigate building and HVAC systems impacted by mold and other biological materials and radon. Coordinates with Facilities leadership and communications to provide University-wide communication and engagement. Immediately report any findings that may affect University programs to supervisors and assist in determining and implementing necessary policy changes to ensure best practices are realized. Creates educational materials to be disseminated campus wide.
- Develops and manages a proactive response plan related to indoor air quality issues. Remains constantly vigilant to changes or advances that may have an impact on EH&S-associated programs through proactive methods such as audits, research, interactions with colleagues at related institutions and by attending professional courses or society meetings. Maintains all required documentation and associated database systems to support the Indoor Air Quality Building Inspection Program. Prepares reports documenting all inspections, recommendations required testing, remediation, and mitigation for each building. Conducts periodic audits to ensure all buildings are identified that are covered under the Program responsibilities.
- Designs, develops, and implements the written Indoor Air Quality Building Inspection Program and update as needed. Confers with environmental consultants, architects, contractors, and vendors concerning air quality control activities. Oversees the implementation of the Air Quality Program and supervise the Assistant Indoor Air Quality positions. Ensures the Air Quality Program is in compliance with University, local, state, and federal policies related to mold assessment and remediation, and radon testing and mitigation.
- Conducts periodic audits to ensure all buildings are identified that are covered under the Program responsibilities. Conducts and oversees inspections of University Manages the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluation of air quality staff Buildings for mold, radon and other biological materials as needed. Ensures cross training and back up of hygienists. Develops, delivers and participates in formal and on the job training, to ensure regulatory compliance and continued professional development.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Science, Math or Engineering, and four years of experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of related experience. (Note: or combination of post high school education and related experience equal to eight years.)
Preferred Qualifications
Mold Assessor and Remediation Licensed preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days
