Position Description

This position is responsible for the planning and organizing of work of journeyman in an assigned trade, the development of material and labor estimates for proposed work, as well as the assigned trade shop budget, inventories, procedures and policies. Work is primarily evaluated for effective use of resources, accomplishment of assigned projects, and adherence to trade standards.

Major/Essential Functions

• Provide maintenance support for all ENTX/TIEHH facilities.
• Be able to perform maintenance/repairs as needed for equipment, facilities and systems.
• Coordinate with TTU Grounds Maintenance crews to ensure that the TIEHH landscaping is up kept.
• Coordinate with TTU Custodial Services to ensure that the buildings have proper janitorial care.
• Ensure that all essential building operational equipment is maintained on a regular schedule to ensure optimal operational capabilities.
• Communicate with faculty, staff and students as to status and timelines for maintenance as it affects their needs.
• Assist with the maintenance of the university property inventory requirements including the annual certification.
• Assist with safety guidelines as implemented by Environmental Health and Safety within the ENTX facilities.
• Provide support for TIEHH personnel in fabricating small-scale items needed for research activities.
• Oversee all maintenance requirements for TIEHH Vehicles and their usage.

Required Qualifications

Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Three years experience as a licensed journeyman in the assigned trade; or six years experience in designated trade. Job-related vocational training and other education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis. Thorough knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, materials, methods and practices of the assigned trade.
