SALARY: Anticipated starting salary is $57,013.00 - $62,000.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
This full-time faculty position will coordinate the Human Services program, mentor faculty and teach a diverse student body from a wide range of academic preparedness and be able to instruct in different modalities (classroom, video conference, hybrid, online asynchronous). The successful candidate will be able to facilitate individualized and non-traditional engaging learning approaches as appropriate. In addition to serving as department coordinator, the successful candidate will manage student fieldwork experiences and develop strong strategic partnerships with agencies across the Northshore. The successful candidate will also coach, mentor and advise students from the Human Services Programs including students in transition and students in the field. The successful candidate will participate in departmental planning, scheduling of courses, curriculum development, and recruitment of students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach courses in the Human Services Programs in accordance with the MCCC collective bargaining agreement.
- Course release(s) to serve responsibilities that include: coordination of Human Services programs and fieldwork experiences; faculty mentoring, student support, advising, recruitment, working with area human services agencies, other program planning, curriculum development/enhancement, programmatic review, assessment, recruitment and retention initiatives.
- Collaborate and lead internal advisory boards and outside entities to meet workforce needs including grand funded initiatives.
- Determine appropriate goals/objectives and learning outcomes for the various courses in the Human Services program. Provide leadership in assessment of courses and design novel programming to meet the needs of neurodiverse and multilingual learners.
- Organize a systematic course schedule to provide maximum benefit to meet the needs of a range of learners requiring different modalities of learning, i.e.: online, hybrid and F2F.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to maximize student learning and engagement and to foster the development of critical thinking skills.
- Utilize new technologies and methodologies in the classroom, as appropriate, to facilitate and support a student-centered environment. Experience in the development of online, hybrid courses, credit for prior learning (CPL)/workforce designed programming using OER resources.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain expertise/currency in the career field and to infuse new methodologies and content into program offerings.
- Work with employers in the field to ensure that curriculum is current and prepares students well for employment and/or transfer.
- Assist in the development of transfer agreements.
- Collaborate with other related departments for interdisciplinary reorganization and programming.
- Perform other duties consistent with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.

Job Requirements:
- Master's in Human Services OR advanced degree in Counseling, Social Work (MSW or LCSW)
- Knowledge of professional practice and responsibilities of working with clients in the human services field.
- Desire to provide wrap around support and advising for course selection and other needs to human services students in transition or in need of emotional support.
- Proven ability and desire to work with a diverse population, students, faculty and staff.
- Experience in developing and assessing student learning outcomes.
- Effective oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and interpersonal connection with a student population that is highly diverse in academic preparation, cultural, socioeconomic, ethnic backgrounds, individuals with physical and learning disabilities and English Language Learners.
- Commitment to the mission of the community college, to teaching excellence, and to the maintenance and continuous improvement of high standards for student learning.
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Community College or college level teaching experience preferred.
- Experience with the integration of technology, OER, student-orientation software, and multimedia formats in the development and delivery of course instruction preferred.
- Experience in online and/or hybrid course development and teaching preferred.
