The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time Instructor - Theatre Arts (DRAM) at our Brenham Campus.
Job Summary
Serve as full-time faculty member in theatre arts on the Brenham Campus, teaching DRAM courses as assigned to maintain faculty load.
Principal Accountabilities
- Teach DRAM courses as assigned by the Dean, Assistant Dean, or Department Head, providing instruction at a variety of locations/times and in a variety of modalities. This includes preparing and utilizing a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution, evaluating students' performance through a variety of means to measure timely progress, and assist in the development, distribution, and collection of assessment data for courses and program outcomes/objectives.
- Direct, or facilitate the direction of, a minimum of 4 student-led theatrical productions annually. This includes personally directing select productions and managing the recruitment and artistic integration of guest conductors as needed to maintain high production standards. Productions include public ticketed performances scheduled for evenings and weekends, as well as invitational matinees for areas schools.
- Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies, delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources by participating in required/applicable professional development activities.
- Recruit students for the program using a variety of methods including, but not limited to, direct school visits, email/phone communication, and networking with area theatre arts directors.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Media Relations, and Web Staff to create and maintain production publicity and program web content, working in conjunction with Division Leadership.
- Demonstrate a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
- Provide recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Heads, and Curriculum Resource Team regarding curriculum.
- Facilitate student participation in regional and state-level theatre organizations and festivals such as ACTF, TxETA, and TCCSTA.
- Assist with awarding of endowed scholarships to theatre arts students in conjunction with the Performing Arts Department Head.
- Demonstrate a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.
- Possess a passion for teaching community college students.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and orally.
- Abide by all college requirements for orientation, attending meetings, and serving on committees.
- Responsible for other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
- Masters Degree in the teaching field (Theatre Arts) or in an other subject that includes at least 18 graduate hours in Theatre Arts.

Minimum Competencies
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other instructors, staff, administration and students.
- Ability to instruct students while achieving the course learning objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
- College Level Teaching Experience, including distance education training/course development
- At least 3 years of experience directing shows at a collegiate institution or with a company of equal/greater skill level
- Season programming: Experience in play selection and artistic budgeting for a theatrical season
- Technical Collaboration: Strong understanding of technical theatre workflows to facilitate effective communication between director(s) and designer(s)/technician(s)
