"Gallery Assistant"

Class Description

The purpose of this class is to assist the CCBC Gallery Coordinator in the handling, installation, lighting, and deinstallation of artwork and the maintenance and monitoring of the CCBC galleries.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree in art or related field. Master of Fine Arts preferred. One year experience in art-related field that includes exhibitions, fabrication, woodworking and painting. Art handling experience preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties

1. Assist with Galleries exhibitions. This includes:
2. Preparing gallery spaces
3. Patching, painting, and preparing walls.
4. Receiving and unpacking artwork and completing condition reports
5. Constructing shelves and pedestals
6. Consulting with curators
7. Installing lighting and deinstalling exhibitions
8. Preparing galleries for subsequent exhibitions
9. Monitoring the Galleries when open to the public
