General Maintenance Worker
Job Description
To provide general custodial activities under general supervision for all state-owned structures, land and state-maintained structures and grounds. Duties are performed according to regularly assigned schedules with priority given to specific areas/locations. Activities may include light maintenance, operation of equipment as needed, routine cleaning and housekeeping, grounds keeping, special maintenance and repair activities, special events, and other related work as required to maintain a pleasant, healthful, aesthetic, and secure environment for all staff and clientele.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work): 12:00pm to 8:30 pm / Monday – Friday
Salary Range: $20.51- $25.43
Work Location: 2101 Trinity Road, Duluth MN 55811
Posting Period: 03/10/26 – 03/16/26
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to learn to work with different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment.
- Ability to learn to work with chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
- Ability to learn to work with methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.
- Ability to have physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
- Ability to keep simple records.
Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrate ability to work successfully with persons from diverse backgrounds and commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Make minor mechanical repairs to ad operate simple maintenance equipment.
- Work in a variety of adverse weather conditions.
- Work above the ground level such as a on ladders and scaffolding.
