Graduate Assistant
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Graduate Assistant at the Rutgers Cancer Institute, Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Under the supervision and direction of the Principal Investigator, the Graduate Assistant will help the lab team to conduct and execute research experiments, order supplies, and perform other research tasks in the lab.
Key Duties:
- Performs standard experiments in the lab: Microscopy, electrophoresis, PCR western blotting and ChIP seq.
- Performs standard lab procedures involved in making required tests and analyses.
- Assists in preparing culture media, reagents, stains and stock solutions.
- Assists in packing, unpacking, storing, and classification of lab supplies and specimens.
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute core values.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers's compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Interest policy.
- Acts as a role model for corporate integrity, customer service and improved quality.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Candidate must be a current graduate student.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands:
Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment:
Laboratory environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Salary:
Minimum wage of $15.49 or higher commensurate with experience
