The Grant and Contract Coordinator supports Towson University's growing portfolio of externally funded projects, ensuring effective management and compliance of grants and contracts. The position involves data management, reporting, and acting as a liaison between various stakeholders while upholding university, state, and federal regulations. A high degree of independence, problem-solving, and technical proficiency is required.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Serve as the primary administrator of the Kuali Research system which is the system of record for TU’s sponsored project activity. Management will include updating and maintaining the Kuali system, ensuring all records related to proposals, awards, and compliance entries are accurate, complete, and compliant with TU, state, and federal policies. Conduct regular reviews and audits of Kuali Research data to ensure data integrity and compliance. Act as a subject matter expert for Kuali Research, troubleshooting issues, and providing guidance to colleagues as needed. Troubleshoot system issues and provide guidance to internal stakeholders. Handles sensitive and privileged information with tact and discretion. Serve as primary point of contact between TU and developers. Liaise with financial services in award setup in Towson University’s financial systems.
- Utilize Kuali Research’s reporting tools to generate routine and custom reports for proposal and award activity, compliance tracking, and performance metrics. Develop and generate custom reports on proposal and award activities, compliance metrics, and performance indicators. Analyze data from Kuali Research to identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improvement to inform institution-wide decisions related to pursuing R2 status. Prepare data sand reports for senior and executive stakeholders including the AVP, Associate Provost for Research, Provost, President, chairs, and Deans as well as external entities, most notably the NSF HERD survey.
- Act as a liaison between faculty, administrative staff, and funding agencies (e.g. NSF, NIH, etc.). Facilities communication regarding grant processes, deadlines, and compliance requirements to faculty and leadership. Provide training and support to enhance user proficiency with research administration tools such as Kuali and GrantForward.
- Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of OSPR operations. Advises OSPR leadership regarding policies, trends, and interpretation of data and program needs. Coordinates significant programming for OSPR including, but not limited to campus-wide events, workshops, and events of recognition.
Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited college or university.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Word, Excel).
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn new software systems.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of research administration principles.
- Experience in a higher education environment.
Salary and Benefits
Salary at $53,000 annually and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 17 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
