Job Description Summary
Primary purpose of this role is to support the research activities of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Department of Medicine. Under limited supervision, this position will manage the sponsored program funds from pre-award through post-award while working with Principal Investigators on proposal development, budget development and related pre-award requirements and submission for a diverse sponsor portfolio. The individual will also manage the post-award processes including monitoring and review of all charges, reconciliation of accounts, and preparation of monthly financial reports for Principal Investigators. Consults with research faculty in the preparation of sponsored project budget and proposals; review proposals for compliance with sponsor and University policies and ensure Regulatory Affairs requirements are satisfied and that Conflict of Interest statements are submitted when required. Provides full accounting services, reconciling budgets, processing payroll, effort reports, financial reporting; monitors grant expenditures for compliance with sponsor regulations and guidelines. The Grants manager will monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and OMB Uniform Guidance. This position reports to the senior administrator within department and has a dotted reporting line to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.
Job Responsibilities
Grant Manager A:
Will manage pre- and post-award activities for a diverse sponsor portfolio within the Infectious Diseases Division. The Grants Manager will manage post award activities, including account setup and closeout, and monitor/ review all sponsored projects expenditures including fund projections. The GM will monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and OMB Uniform Guidance, meet with principal investigators to discuss and advise them on financial issues related to their portfolios, maintain salary grids and support with payroll allocations to ensure faculty and staff are paid correctly, and assist in the preparation of effort reports. The Grants Manager will be responsible for multiple monthly pre-award proposal submissions for various PIs. Tasks include managing proposal development, meeting with Principal Investigators to discuss and manage budget development and related pre-award activities for diverse sponsor portfolio. They will also participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission and the development and implementation of standard operating procedures throughout DOM. Handle all pre-award activities for patient oriented clinical trials federal and non-federal including completion of Prospective Reimbursement Analysis (PRA) with Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs)/PIs, Research Billing Number (RBN) set-up, advance account paperwork if required, invoicing start-up, tracking initial payments, etc. Set-up study-specific patient tracking logs for Coordinators to record completed study visits & Grants Managers to track study payments & patient costs.
Grants Manager B:
The Grants Manager B will work more independently and actively participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission. The Grants Manager B will work on the more complicated grants including training grants and program project with multiple sub-contracts. Moreover, it is expected that the Grants Manager B candidate will have a greater grants management experience than the Grants Manager A candidate, such that s/he can make greater contributions, including engaging in financial analysis.

Qualifications
Grants Manager A
Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Grants Manager B
Bachelor of Science and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Preferred
The candidate will possess strong organizational, data management and documentation skills, is attentive to detail and strives for accurate results, has the ability to work both independently and cooperatively, and demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills. Successful candidate must be highly motivated, attentive to details, ability to work in a team setting, multi-task with a strong work ethic. Ability to work under pressure of deadlines, be flexible and contribute positively to a dynamic business environment. Prefer a candidate with awareness of grant submission coordination either with pre award or post award within a research setting; Skills required are strong computer skills, with working knowledge of computer software such as Excel or Access, familiar with Ben Financial, and Business Objects or similar financial software
