Job Description

The Grants Office is looking for a multi-talented individual to join our team. The Grants Office team members work together to advance the grant making efforts of the College. The Grants Officer serves as a lead team member in developing and writing grant proposals primarily to government agencies in order to obtain funding for college activities. The incumbent coordinates the work of department and division-wide grant writing teams, working with them to develop proposal ideas, establish grant writing timelines and assignments, and ensure that timelines are met. The Grants Officer researches internal and external data sources to obtain information for grant proposals, creates grant timelines and budgets, and drafts grant project activities.

  • Experience doing grant research and grant writing particularly within an educational setting.
  • Experience in designing, writing, and editing complex grant documents.
  • Experience coordinating the work of teams and utilizing project management techniques.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and applying government regulations and proposal guidelines.
  • Experience managing prioritizing projects effectively to meet office and proposal deadlines.
  • Experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse individuals.
  • Experience in operating a computer and various supporting software packages including Google Suite and Microsoft Office products.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Bachelors Degree in Public Affairs, Communications, English, Journalism, Education or a related field. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.

Demonstrated experience writing grant proposals and reports to both government and private funding sources. Experience coordinating grant development teams. Experience researching and identifying funding sources and requirements. Experience interpreting requests for proposals, reporting cycles and funding guidelines. Experience developing and monitoring budgets.

Starting Salary Expectations

$71,174 to $76,243 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Position Grade Salary Range

$71174 to $123415 Annual Salary

Paid Leave:

  • Starts at 13.33 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of services)
  • 1 day of sick leave per month

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an office environment. Work also involves sitting at a computer and being on the phone for extended period of time. Tight grant timelines require the incumbent in this classification to work flexible hours. Some travel throughout the district is required. Occasional lifting of equipment used in training workshops that may weigh up to 30 pounds required.
