Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Graphic Designer is responsible for the design and production of publications including ads, brochures, posters, flyers, and other documents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Create publication art elements.
• Use creative skills to formulate concepts and prepare illustrations from models, sketches, photographs, etc., into computerized design.
• Scan document and art in preparation for their use in publications.
• Solicit quotes for ad costs, printing, and production costs.
• Work with faculty and staff to develop marketing strategies and materials.
• Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

• Associates degree in Graphic Art required
• 4 years of directly-related work experience may be considered in lieu of required degree
• 3 years experience required
• Experience in an institution of higher education, preferably in a community college preferred
• A sample of a professional portfolio required at the time of interview

Licensing & Certification

• Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions

General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
