Job Summary

Responsible for the overall turf maintenance of a designated zone. Perform the following tasks: Turf mowing, Prune trees and shrubs, plant trees, cut and remove trees as needed, Pick up litter, Rake leaves, Top dress turf areas, Line athletic field, Empty garbage throughout campus, Inspect and clean catch basins and outfalls. Inspect for illicit connections, Asphalt and masonry repair, Apply fertilizer to turf areas and herbicides as directed using college approved materials,Remove snow and ice from campus walkways, entranceway, patios, steps, and handicapped areas. Apply salt, calcium, and sand/grit where necessary. Operate snow removal equipment which includes snow blowers, backhoe and 4-wheel drive vehicles for snow plowing, salting and sanding of campus walkways and roadways.
Process work orders for relocation of equipment and furniture. Assist with surplus property when requested by the warehouse. Process recyclable material from all buildings and grounds in compliance with the NJ State Mandatory Recycling Act. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Education

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Qualifications - Experience

Six to twelve months of experience in groundskeeping maintenance preferred.

Qualifications - Skills

Knowledge and ability to operate backhoe, lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment, plow trucks, salt/sander trucks and snow blowers.
Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.
Prolonged periods walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneeling.
Must be physically able to operate power equipment.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Work Hours

8:00am to 4:30pm
