OVERVIEW
College of Marin seeks a dynamic, equity-minded Part-Time Faculty Coach to lead the Men's Soccer program. This position is compensated through the part-time faculty salary schedule, with additional stipends for in-season and off-season responsibilities. Due to the immediate program need, the position is being filled through an expedited hire process.
TEACHING LOAD (Subject to Enrollment)
- Fall Semester:
- 9.0 units – In-Season Intercollegiate Soccer
- 1.33 units – Preseason Conditioning Class
- Spring Semester:
- 2.0 units – Off-Season Soccer (Hours by Arrangement)
- Summer Term:
- 2.0 units – Off-Season Soccer (Hours by Arrangement)
- 6 weeks (Mon–Thurs), up to 72 contact hours
Total Anticipated Annual Teaching Load: Up to 14.33 (Subject to student enrollment and departmental needs)
COMPENSATION
- Part-Time Faculty Salary Formula:
- Monthly: Annual salary (from salary schedule) x # of Units, ÷ 30 units, x 95% = semester payment; divide by five (5) = monthly salary.
- Per Unit: Annual salary (from salary schedule) x 95%, ÷ 30 units = per unit rate.

- Coaching Stipends:
- In-Season (Fall): $3,350.08
- Off-Season (Spring/Summer): $3,350.08
SEASON STRUCTURE (Men's Soccer – 3C2A Bylaws)
- Practice/Scrimmage Start: August 15
- First Match Date: August 27 or 4th Friday in August (whichever comes first)
- Maximum Games: 22 + 1 Alumni Game
- Conference Ends: Two Saturdays before Thanksgiving
- Postseason Ends: Two Sundays after Thanksgiving
RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction & Coaching
- Teach and manage in-season and off-season soccer activity classes
- Conduct practices, organize competitions, and provide technical and tactical instruction
- Track student eligibility and progress in collaboration with Counseling and Enrollment Services
- Enforce 3C2A decorum standards and all District and Conference policies
Program Leadership – The "Big 3"
- Recruitment: Establish pipelines with local high schools and clubs. Evaluate prospective student-athletes for academic and athletic fit. Maintain records and submit required recruiting documentation.
- Retention: Monitor and support student-athletes' academic performance. Facilitate structured study expectations and connect students to support services.
- Transfer: Maintain a detailed "sophomore list" including transcripts, GPA, eligibility status, and highlights. Promote student-athletes to 4-year programs and assist with transfer and compliance processes.
Administrative Duties
- Manage scheduling, rosters, budgets, travel logistics, and equipment
- Supervise assistant coaches
- Participate in program fundraising and outreach
- Represent College of Marin and the men's soccer program with professionalism and integrity
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional experience coaching soccer; or
- Associate's degree and six (6) years of professional experience coaching soccer; and
- Valid California driver's license; and
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the campus community.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- College-level coaching and recruiting experience
- Knowledge of 3C2A rules and compliance standards
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Spanish or multilingual communication skills
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Prior to employment, the selected candidate will be required to complete the following:
1. In accordance with Federal Law all employees must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
2. Criminal Justice/Fingerprint Clearance.
3. California Education Code, Section 87408.6 requires persons employed by a community college in an academic or classified position to submit to a TB risk assessment developed by CDPH and CTCA and, if risk factors are present, an examination to determine that he or she is free of infectious TB; initially upon hire and every four years thereafter.
4. Certificated candidates who have not previously been employed in an academic position in California will be required to provide a medical certificate from a licensed physician showing that the candidate is free from any communicable disease unfitting the candidate to instruct or associate with students. The medical exam shall have been conducted not more than six months before submission of the certificate and shall be at the expense of the candidate. (Ed. Code Section 87408)
5. DISASTER SERVICE WORKERS: All Marin Community College District (MCCD) employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the MCCD requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
