Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of History at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#126250) in Japanese or Chinese history (any time period) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach courses in the history of Japan and China to undergraduate students.
• Contribute to graduate programs.
• Teach courses in the general education curriculum.
• Work with campus partners.
• Maintain an active research agenda. While research expertise in both Chinese and Japanese is not required, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses for majors in both fields.

Required Education

A terminal degree in history or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
