HR Systems Service Desk Advisor

The Human Resources (HR) Division supports the University to deliver its goals of excellence in education, learning and research via the recruitment, retention, reward, recognition and development activities of our staff.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 July 2027 in the first instance.

The Role:

As the HR Systems Service Desk Advisor at Cambridge, you are invited to submit your application to join our HR Systems Service Desk team, providing advice and guidance to colleagues across the university, external workers and job applicants.

This post will have specific responsibilities of supporting the Casual Workers system at the University. They will also work with internal and external users of our HR, payroll and recruitment systems.

The Advisor will provide first line support to users in our central HR and payroll teams, to users in the University's faculties and departments, and applicants and referees who use our online recruitment system.

They will also log calls and deal with routine requests (such as user account creation and resolving known issues) themselves.

The Advisor will work with the Service Desk Analysts to escalate issues where required.

About You:

In order to succeed in this role, you will join us with:

  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn;
  • An A level education or equivalent experience;
  • Experience of working with PC based software and the ability to handle multiple projects;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work accurately with attention to detail;
  • Experience of handling customer problems is essential and experience working on an IT service desk is desirable.

Elements of this role are suitable for hybrid working, where staff can split their time between in-person collaboration and remote working. The frequency of the remote elements of the role can be discussed with the recruiting manager.
