Williams Human Resources is excited to announce an opportunity to join our team as an HR Generalist. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by supporting managers and employees across the College.

Under the general direction of the Director for Employee Engagement & Experience, the HR Generalist serves as a trusted resource for managers and staff, providing guidance on employee relations, policies, and day to day HR matters while ensuring a smooth, compliant, and people-centered HR experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the go-to resource for employees and managers seeking information or clarification on HR policies, workplace procedures, and organizational rules.
  • Provide support to employees addressing a wide range of issues, including workplace conditions, interpersonal conflicts, and career development. Handle sensitive matters with empathy and discretion.
  • Act as a primary resource for workplace conflicts, facilitating processes to resolve and foster a positive work environment.
  • Work closely with managers to assess and confirm the correct classification of workers as employees or contractors.
  • Provide guidance related to managing non-student temporary hires, including the evaluation of their employment needs.
  • Maintain a current and thorough knowledge of all federal and state laws and regulations governing employment, as well as all College policies and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Knowledge of Federal, state and local laws and ordinances governing recruitment, employment and equity for faculty and staff.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Google suite.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills; clear, concise, and professional, including the ability to address small and large groups.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands.
  • An "out of the box" mindset with the desire to improve processes, tools, and standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Must exhibit excellent customer service, integrity, and confidentiality when working with both internal and external customers.
  • Experience with recruitment technology platforms and applicant tracking systems (HCM) is preferred.
  • Human Resources certifications (e.g. SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR, etc.) are preferred.

This is a forward-facing position requiring extensive outreach both internally and externally. As such, hybrid on-site/remote work arrangements may be available for one day per week for employees based in NY, MA, CT, or VT; subject to review and revision as policy evolves.

Application review will begin on November 28, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled. Pay range is from $65,000 to $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
