Instructional Assistant Professor of Gerontology
The University of Southern California Leonard Davis School of Gerontology invites applications for a non-tenure track Instructional Assistant Professor position in Gerontology.
This position will support the development of new programs, courses, and curricula as needed, in addition to core instructional responsibilities. The successful candidate will facilitate student learning through effective instruction, evaluate student progress for all assigned courses, and teach at least three four-unit courses per semester at both undergraduate and graduate levels. They will be responsible for developing and updating course curricula, handouts, lectures, labs, and presentations, specifically focused on the biology of aging, microbiology, nutrition, and health and disease. The role also includes participation in program-level learning assessments, helping to articulate learning outcomes, administering measures, evaluating student performance, and recommending improvements to enhance student learning. The candidate will collaborate with faculty and administrators in developing and refining program curricula, policies, and standards, including reviewing and contributing to the textbook selection process. Additionally, the role involves overseeing, supervising, and evaluating students in clinical, internship, observation, field experience, and other relevant settings, as appropriate for the course or program. The position requires engagement in the development of pedagogical tools and learning assessments. A Ph.D. in Gerontology (or related field) and a minimum of one year's teaching experience is required. Expertise in the biology of aging, microbiology, nutrition, and health and disease is essential.
The salary range for this position is $76,000.00 to $90,000.00 annually, and the position is based in Los Angeles, CA.
