About the Department
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Georgia State University’s Perimeter College recognizes the exponential growth of occupations in the fields of computer science and engineering. It is the department’s mission to ensure that students are prepared for rewarding careers in these critically important areas. The department supports pathways in both Computer Science and Engineering. Courses supporting the Regents Engineering Pathway are also offered by the department, allowing students to complete two years of instruction at Perimeter College before transferring to engineering programs at renowned institutions within the University System of Georgia.
The department consists of nine full-time faculty members and seven part-time faculty dedicated to fostering a dynamic learning environment. Faculty actively engage with students, creating a collaborative atmosphere that contributes to student success. Students’ projects have gained recognition at national conferences, and student teams have been among the winners and the top 10 finalists at the Community College Innovation Challenge sponsored by the National Science Foundation and American Association of Community Colleges.

Position Description
Perimeter College invites applications for a tenure-track instructor, or assistant or associate professor position in Engineering. This is a teaching-focused position: 80% of the workload is instruction, with service and scholarly and creative activity accounting for 10% each. Perimeter faculty are responsible for providing 27-32 credit hours of instruction per academic year and engaging in service to the department, college, and university. Perimeter College faculty maintain a campus presence, and the successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to early undergraduate teaching and learning, and the ability to thrive in a highly diverse academic setting. Perimeter College is a multi-campus access institution, and the teaching assignment may be on any of the college’s campuses.

Required Education
Instructor:
A minimum of a Master’s degree required in the teaching discipline or a minimum of a Master’s degree with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter graduate hours in relevant coursework (completed by the anticipated date of appointment) is required.
Salary Range: $53,350 – $58,350
Assistant Professor:
A Ph.D. in the teaching field is required by the time of the appointment; OR: must have previously held the associate professor rank at a comparable institution for a minimum of one academic year.
Salary Range: $53,350 – $65,000
Associate Professor: A Ph.D. in the teaching discipline is required, and must have previously held the associate professor rank at a comparable institution for a minimum of one academic year. Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- College teaching experience. One year is preferred and can include experience as a teaching assistant at a college or university.
- Experience teaching online and using a distance learning platform.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in high-impact educational practices, scholarship of teaching and learning, building college-to-career linkages, and/or other pedagogical initiatives that enhance student success.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in scholarship in the discipline and/or scholarship of teaching and learning.
- A Ph.D. in the teaching field is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods with a demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology.
- Ability to create a sense of belonging for a varied student population and facilitate student learning in both the in-person and virtual learning environments.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills (able to maintain appropriate records).
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve discipline, department, or college goals.

Tenure-track positions are academic year (August-May) appointments, with an 80% teaching, 10% service, and 10% Scholarly & Creative Activity workload distribution.
