Job Description

The person for this position will teach courses (studio and lecture) in the subject matter pertaining to Dance and or Dance Appreciation. This person will also have oversight of the Dance program, in conjunction with the Chair of the Department of Fine Arts, for performance schedules, recruiting, advertising, assessment, and advising students within the Dance program. The applicant should have a deep understanding of choreography, many styles of Dance, and have the abilities to lead a team of instructors and students in rehearsal and performance. Teaching includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Teaching assignments will be courses that are listed within the Dance Program that will count either towards a Certificate of Achievement in Dance or General Education requirements.
  • Assigned courses, days, times and/or locations may vary from semester to semester.
  • Assignments may be any combination of classroom and online modes.
  • Assignments may be any combination of morning, afternoon and evening hours.
  • Assignments may be any combination of any days of the week including weekends.
  • Assignments may be any combination of courses for which the instructor is qualified.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Dance (or commensurate experience in the field of Dance).
  • 3 years experience teaching at the Community College level.
  • Experience with running a Dance program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in Dance with an emphasis in Choreography, Performance and Company Management.
  • Concert/Show production experience.

Starting Salary Range

Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. For example, for an instructor with a Master's degree, the salary range would be $58,046 to $74,304 annually. The entire salary range is up to $89,166 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years' experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
