Part-Time Faculty: ARI 261.3 Painting Studio I (Fall 2025)

The School of Art within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach ARI 261 Painting Studio I, a three credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2025. This course explores fundamentals of painting with an emphasis on the uses of paint and color for descriptive and expressive intentions. Technical, practical, and conceptual issues will be explored through the practice of painting.

Qualifications:

• MFA degree or equivalent.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Ability to teach beginning painting to students at all skill levels.

Responsibilities:

Teach class during assigned day and times. Maintain regular grading. Prep for class teaching. Maintain office hours. Teach through demos. Teach about materials & techniques. Studio set up. In addition: Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Meeting all designated class periods. If unable to meet class due to illness or emergency, reschedule or obtain a substitute and notify the department chair. Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations. Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner. Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations. Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
