Qualifications:

Faculty members who teach the Tower Initial Qualifications (IQ) Academy curriculum and simulation must have a minimum of three (3) years of fully credentialed experience as one of the following: FAA Certified Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS), military controllers with FAA credentials, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) air traffic controllers, and/or Control Tower Operator (CTO) controllers. Faculty must have at least two (2) years of Certified Professional Controller (CPC), or equivalent, in the Tower domain.

The applicant's minimum educational level is a bachelor's degree (master's degree or higher desired), preferably in a related field.

Must be a former certified FAA or Department of Defense (DoD) Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) with at least 3 years of experience for each type of environment they are evaluating (Tower Domain), and former FAA/DoD On-the-job Training Instructor (OJTI) experience or FAA Operations Supervisor (OS)/DoD Watch Supervisor experience.

Description:

The School of Aviation at the University of Oklahoma (OU) invites applications for an Unranked Renewable Term Instructor/Lecturer position for the FAA Enhanced AT-CTI Program (Tower Domain). The School is a nationally recognized leader in providing innovative, state-of-the-art education for flight education, aviation management, and air traffic control. The School has the first four-year degree program approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Enhanced AT-CTI (ECTI) program for Tower Domain, and is one of only nine ECTI programs in the nation, as of October 2025.

The School of Aviation is housed within the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences. In addition to the School, the College comprises the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability and the School of Meteorology. We offer innovative and multi-disciplinary education, research, and outreach programs in an environment that empowers students, faculty, and staff to seek solutions to grand environmental and humanitarian challenges; to advance technology and propel knowledge, and to develop engaged individuals for rewarding careers in the following: private sector, academia, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and entrepreneurship. The teaching load will be 3 plus 3 (Fall/Spring). Scholarship is encouraged.
