"Instructor of Guitar - Professional Track"

The University of South Carolina School of Music is accepting applications for Instructor of Guitar, 9-month, Professional Track, to begin August 16, 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach applied guitar (undergraduate and graduate), guitar literature, pedagogy, ensemble, and courses in a secondary area of expertise; recruit undergraduate and graduate students; supervise student recitals, doctoral research documents, and guitar graduate assistants teaching lessons and group classes; provide service to the area as assigned, including but not limited to student juries, recitals, comprehensive exams, and document committees; maintain visibility as a performer

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in music. Candidates must demonstrate an expertise in a secondary teaching area outside classical guitar performance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates with a doctorate in music who have experience teaching and recruiting guitar students at the university level.
