Job Description
The Division of Teacher Residency and Education of the University of South Dakota’s School of Education invite applicants for an Instructor or Lecturer of Teacher Education (Non-Tenure-Track). This is an on-campus, nine-month position with the possibility of summer teaching. The successful candidate for this position is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate coursework across the curriculum in teacher education. The successful candidate should also possess knowledge related to face-to-face, online, and other distance learning modalities. Additional assignments may be made based on the professional and academic background of the applicant to complement the strengths of Division faculty and to address the needs of students in programs within the Division of Teacher Residency and Education, School of Education, and university community. Faculty members in the instructor/lecturer rank are expected to make contributions in teaching and service. All faculty members are expected to mentor students in and out of the classroom. Our teacher education programs are CAEP accredited, and widely respected for training highly competent, well-prepared educators.
Qualifications
Applicants must be able to teach in more than one of the following areas: Early Childhood Education, Mathematics Education, English as a New Language, Educational Technology, and Literacy Education. Preference will be given to those applicants who (a) have at least three years of experience in PK-12 classrooms, (b) have had successful teaching experiences in college/university settings, and (c) have strengths in Early Childhood Education, Mathematics Education, or English Learner Education. Applicants for the Instructor position must possess an earned master’s degree, while applicants for the Lecturer position must possess an earned doctorate. Applicant degrees must be earned from an accredited institution in a Teacher Education discipline (e.g., Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Curriculum & Instruction, English as a New Language, English/Language Arts, Early Childhood Education, Mathematics Education, Educational Technology, Literacy Education, etc.) by August 22, 2026. Applicants must show evidence of accomplishments or strong potential for success in teaching, and professional service.
Salary/Compensation
Starting salary is $50,000. Salary is commensurate with qualifications plus benefits. This position has the possibility of summer employment for additional compensation.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
