Description
Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.
- Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program.
- Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.
- Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
- Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
- Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
- May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
- Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
- May serve as property custodian for the department.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (MQ)
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.

Summary
The International Programs Manager supports the International Student & Scholar Services Office (ISSSO) by developing, implementing, and assessing programs that enhance cross-cultural understanding across the University of Houston’s campuses. This role fosters meaningful cultural engagement, a sense of belonging, and the overall success of international students and scholars within the university community.
Job Duties
- Coordinate and oversee cultural and educational programming, including events for international students and scholars and the International Mentorship and International Friendship Programs.
- Conceptualize and develop special events and activities for international students and scholars with partners across campus and in the community such as International Education Week.
- Coordinate and supervise all event details, from marketing through to follow-up, including coordinating and supervising event set-up, special events, meetings, vendor coordination, room reservation, and audio visual equipment for various types of events.
- Manage event budget and oversee staffing and volunteer support of events.
- Draft event communications for the International Student & Scholar Services Office, including advertising, marketing, and publicity materials, as well as follow up communications, relying on both traditional and social media tools.
- Monitor and coordinate event registration and serve as the primary contact for event information and requests for events facilitated by the ISSSO.
- Serve as an advisor to the International Student Organization and assist with the onboarding and integration of new international students.
- Establish and maintain relationships with faculty and staff across all colleges, acting as a programmatic liaison to develop and sustain programming initiatives.
- Work closely with departments, student organizations, and community partners to enhance intercultural engagement and provide comprehensive support services.
- Support assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement of international programming and initiatives.
- Represent ISSSO on university committees related to student belonging, engagement, and global initiatives.
- Occasionally provide support for evening and/or weekend programming as needed.
- Oversee ISSSO’s social media accounts and digital presence, including managing content strategy and supervising student content creators.
- Prepare and present analytical and statistical reports for leadership.
- Engage in formal and informal outreach activities on behalf of the International Student & Scholar Services Office.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
