Description: Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, programs or processes. 1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program. 2. Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis. 3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance. 4. Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation. 5. Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities. 6. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations. 7. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures. 8. May serve as property custodian for the department. 9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.

Summary: The International Programs Manager supports the International Student & Scholar Services Office (ISSSO) by developing, implementing, and assessing programs that enhance cross-cultural understanding across the University of Houston’s campuses. This role fosters meaningful cultural engagement, a sense of belonging, and the overall success of international students and scholars within the university community.
Job Duties:
  1. Coordinate and oversee cultural and educational programming, including events for international students and scholars and the International Mentorship and International Friendship Programs.
  2. Conceptualize and develop special events and activities for international students and scholars with partners across campus and in the community such as International Education Week.
  3. Coordinate and supervise all event details, from marketing through to follow-up, including coordinating and supervising event set-up, special events, meetings, vendor coordination, room reservation, and audio visual equipment for various types of events.
  4. Manage event budget and oversee staffing and volunteer support of events.
  5. Draft event communications for the International Student & Scholar Services Office, including advertising, marketing, and publicity materials, as well as follow up communications, relying on both traditional and social media tools.
  6. Monitor and coordinate event registration and serve as the primary contact for event information and requests for events facilitated by the ISSSO.
  7. Serve as an advisor to the International Student Organization and assist with the onboarding and integration of new international students.
  8. Establish and maintain relationships with faculty and staff across all colleges, acting as a programmatic liaison to develop and sustain programming initiatives.
  9. Work closely with departments, student organizations, and community partners to enhance intercultural engagement and provide comprehensive support services.
  10. Support assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement of international programming and initiatives.
  11. Represent ISSSO on university committees related to student belonging, engagement, and global initiatives.
  12. Occasionally provide support for evening and/or weekend programming as needed.
  13. Oversee ISSSO’s social media accounts and digital presence, including managing content strategy and supervising student content creators.
  14. Prepare and present analytical and statistical reports for leadership.
  15. Engage in formal and informal outreach activities on behalf of the International Student & Scholar Services Office.
  16. Performs other job-related duties as required.
