IT Governance and Investment Intern

About This Opportunity

The IT Governance and Investment Intern will support the delivery of governance, risk, architecture, and project management initiatives within the Information Technology Services (ITS) division. Working as part of a collaborative and supportive team, you will contribute to activities that help enhance IT value, manage risk, and strengthen decision-making across the University. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to develop practical experience in technology governance and business analysis while supporting UQ’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting activities across licensing, architecture, project/change management, and governance and risk functions.
  • Assisting with analysis, reporting, and documentation to inform IT planning and compliance activities.
  • Collaborating with team members to maintain frameworks, processes, and templates that enable effective IT governance.
  • Providing general administrative and analytical support to the IT Governance and Investment team.

About You

You are an enthusiastic and motivated student with a keen interest in technology governance, business analysis, and IT management. You bring strong analytical and communication skills, a proactive approach to learning, and a desire to contribute meaningfully to a professional IT environment.

You will bring:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably at The University of Queensland, in Computer Science and Information Technology, Engineering, Law, or Business Management.
  • Knowledge, skills, or a strong interest in procurement, risk management, compliance, project management, systems architecture, or business analysis.
  • Relevant coursework or transferable experience in governance and risk management.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to think critically.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a team environment.

The successful candidate may be required to complete background checks including, right to work in Australia, criminal history and education checks.
