IT, Project Manager 3 - Software at Yale

Position Focus

Manages procurement and renewal processes for software titles within Central ITS in collaboration with Yale Procurement, ITS Finance, and Service Owners - Leads projects to assess new software solutions and/or alternatives to existing products to meet client needs across the University. Implements software asset management practices and prepares reporting on software entitlements, allocations, and utilization across a portfolio of 250+ titles to maximize contract value and support data driven decision-making. Assists in analyzing software trends and internal metrics to forecast contract spend and aid in negotiations. Participates in the development of software governance processes to ensure software titles are reviewed for compliance with University standards and costs are aligned with software beneficiaries. Implements workflows to streamline software provisioning - Leads internal and vendor audits of software assets. Mentors Level 1 and 2 Software at Yale team member(s).

Required Skills and Abilities

  1. Well-developed knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software, and equipment.
  2. Well-developed knowledge of IT project management principles (e.g., Agile) and software.
  3. Well-developed analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  4. Well-developed interpersonal, written, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  5. Proven project management skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Familiarity with ServiceNow
Proficient in Excel

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Oversee and manage moderately complex projects; with one or more critical IT components; responsible for the planning, defining the scope, formulating the budget, implementation, communication, tracking and reporting.
  2. Assess and manage issues; responsible for the resolution of all issues; prepare impact analysis statements and manage the change request process.
  3. Ensure projects are delivered on-time, with expected scope and within defined budget.
  4. Participate in the development of effective processes and procedures.
  5. Coordinate, resolve, or assist in resolution of conflicts and other issues within and between project teams and recommend/provide solutions.
  6. May mentor level 2 team members.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree and four years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
