Position Description
Are you passionate about empowering Indigenous students to achieve their academic goals and making a meaningful impact in Indigenous education? We're seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic new team member to fill the role of Indigenous Academic Support Advisor at James Cook University (JCU)!
- Full-time, continuing position
- Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas
- HEWL 8: $111,960 - $128,567 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
- This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Indigenous Academic Support Advisor, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping student success by guiding them in developing essential study and academic skills needed to achieve their goals. This is a deeply rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact by developing tailored learning support plans, guiding academic strategies, and championing continuous improvement. You'll empower tutors, implement proactive intervention strategies, and lead pre-study programs to boost student readiness, capability, and achievement.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A bachelors degree is required. A postgraduate degree (or progress towards) will be highly regarded.
- Contemporary knowledge of Indigenous Higher Education policy imperatives.
- Proven experience in developing, leading, and evaluating educational programs for Indigenous students.
- Proficiency in data analytics, learning technologies, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent case management, organisational, and problem-solving, skills.
- An ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- It is also a requirement of this position to hold a current Working with Children Blue Card or have the ability to rapidly obtain.
