Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. A reasonable full-time salary estimate for this position is $55,000 to $63,500.

Position description
The successful candidate will be working closely with Professor Chenzi Xu and collaborators on academic research in the area of international finance/trade and economic history. The candidate will be exposed to all parts of the research process from idea formation to article revision.
Duties will include:
- Assistance with historical data collection and creation (including from novel primary sources) of international banking patterns. This will entail collecting and summarizing qualitative sources as well as cleaning quantitative sources
- Assistance with literature review and analysis of laws related to historical banking patterns in the US
- Assistance with preliminary empirical analysis and data visualization on projects related to trade financing, international trade, and international finance
Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) program
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree).
Preferred qualifications
- Coding skills in Stata or R
- Coding skills in python and experience with cloud computing is a plus
- Prior coursework in economics and econometrics (or statistics)
- Strong organizational and communication skills, high attention to detail
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Prior Research Experience
