The Personalised Medicine Centre (formerly the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics) is a collaborative research hub between Murdoch University and Perron Institute, bringing together cutting-edge laboratory research and clinical expertise. Our multidisciplinary team of researchers and health professionals is dedicated to advancing personalised medicine - developing targeted treatments tailored to an individual’s unique genetic profile and lifestyle.
Our research spans a wide range of critical health challenges, including genetic therapies, genomics, motor neurone disease, sepsis, immunogenomics, drug hypersensitivity, cognitive health, muscular dystrophy, and neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, myositis, and multiple sclerosis.

Your New Role!
The Laboratory Assistant at the Personalised Medicine Centre (PMC) supports daily laboratory operations by maintaining facilities, preparing reagents and buffers, and managing consumable supplies. This role helps ensure experiments run efficiently while upholding a safe, productive and compliant research environment.
Your key responsibilities will include –
Manage laboratory supplies and logistic, including receiving and distributing deliveries, coordinating with research groups on orders and stock allocation, and maintaining organised clean, and operational lab spaces
Support laboratory operations, including washing and sterilising glassware, autoclaving waste and materials in line with biosafety procedures, and maintaining liquid nitrogen tanks safely
Prepare routine laboratory reagents and buffers and perform other assigned tasks to support ongoing molecular research activities

This Fixed Term (12 Months) | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $64,600.00– $71,942.00 (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you’ll bring to the role:
Certificate III in laboratory skills (or related field), or completion of Year 12 with relevant laboratory experience
Working knowledge of laboratory procedures, including the safe handling of chemicals and biohazardous materials
Strong teamwork, communication, and the ability to follow instructions, supported by reliable and professional work ethic
Basic computer proficiency, including email, Word and Excel
Proven ability to prioritise tasks and manage workloads to meet deadlines
