The ideal candidate excels in technical proficiency, fosters strong collaboration with all stakeholders, and possesses a dedicated service attitude toward both internal teams and external visiting artists. Due to the nature of live events, this position requires an irregular schedule, including frequent night and weekend work.

Key Responsibilities: Technical Skills & Execution

Theatrical & Architectural Lighting Expertise: Serve as the primary Lighting Supervisor and/or Lighting Designer for performances, as well as oversee the Center's architectural lighting systems.

Cross-Functional Technical Leadership: Serve alternately as the Stage Manager, Rigger, and/or Audio Engineer for performances and special events on a day-to-day basis.

Operational Readiness: Ensure thorough technical preparation before and organized clean-up after all events to guarantee seamless transitions.

Maintenance and Documentation: Implement scheduled and necessary maintenance of technical systems, proactively suggest and implement technical improvements, and contribute to department-wide safety and efficiency by writing work instructions that codify agreed-upon and safe house practices for all theatrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities: Service & Collaboration

This role is a central point of contact requiring excellent interpersonal and service-oriented skills:

Service-Oriented Collaboration: Collaborate effectively and professionally with a diverse array of internal departments, visiting artists, and campus partners to support a thriving performing arts center.

Client Relationship Management: Provide exceptional technical service, working closely with external clients (visiting artists and local groups) to facilitate the successful and safe presentation of live events.

Mentorship and Supervision: Hire, manage, train, schedule, and supervise a team of 7-13 student stagehands during the academic year (and 2 in the summer), including training and fostering a positive and safe working environment.

Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other Technical Services team members on the successful presentation of all live events and system upkeep.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
+ Education: BA or BFA
+ Experience: 1 to 2 years of professional experience in technical theatre
+ Skills: Trained in specialized technical theatre practices and systems, including stage management, lighting design and practice, rudimentary audio, and rigging. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ ETC Eos/Ion console proficiency
+ Basic projection experience
+ Stage management experience
