Learning Specialist
Position Summary:
Rutgers University-Camden is seeking a Learning Specialist in the Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS). Reporting to the Assistant Director of CLASS, the Learning Specialist plays a key role in improving student retention and persistence by providing academic support, designing targeted interventions, and leveraging data to address students' unique challenges. The Learning Specialist delivers individualized and group support to undergraduate students through one-on-one coaching, group coaching, and skill-building sessions tailored to diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities include conducting learning assessments, developing personalized learning plans, and maintaining curriculum materials in the learning management system (Canvas). The Learning Specialist supports the planning and delivery of in-person and virtual programming, utilizing strong technical and content development skills to create effective, real-time, digital, and multimedia learning resources.
Additional duties involve developing and coordinating support services that promote students' academic preparedness throughout the year, particularly during summer and winter sessions. The Learning Specialist collaborates with campus partners to design and implement academic support interventions grounded in learning theory for students of concern.
Ongoing evaluation of student progress and the effectiveness of academic support services is central to the role. The Learning Specialist collects and analyzes data, including academic performance, participation, retention, and student feedback, to demonstrate impact, support continuous improvement, and ensure that programs remain responsive to student needs.
Finally, the Learning Specialist actively participates in campus outreach and student success initiatives, including resource fairs and orientation programs, to promote services and foster engagement among both new and returning students.
Minimum Education and Experience:
The successful candidate must have a bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, education, humanities, or a related field. Requires at least two years of experience delivering academic learning support for undergraduate students at a university setting, and/or two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of collegiate learning strategies and methodologies for individuals and groups, and/or experience managing the operations of a collegiate learning center.

Equipment Utilized: MS Office, internet, tutoring software databases, student information systems, and other computer-based platforms including EAB and Qualtrics. Incumbent may use social media tools to communicate with students and tutors.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Must be available to work occasional evening and weekend hours in addition to the standard workweek.
Salary: Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, within university policy and salary schedules, as well as departmental budgets.
