Learning Specialist
Rutgers University-Camden is seeking a Learning Specialist in the Office of Disability Services. This position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of reasonable accommodations to all eligible students at the Camden campus at Rutgers per Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments of 2008. The Learning Specialist-Coordinator of Accommodations reports to the Director of the Office of Disability Services. The Learning Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, and providing reasonable accommodations that include academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, services to students with physical, psychological, learning, health-related, and neurological disabilities (e.g., mobility Impairments, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, learning disorders, hearing impairments, visual impairments, traumatic brain injuries, and epilepsy). Also, the Learning Specialist is responsible for conducting intake interviews with students; maintaining private, accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date notes/records related to students; reviewing documentation and evaluative reports; preparing letters of accommodation; evaluating eligibility for services; conducting follow-up meetings with students; organizing reasonable accommodations, services, and auxiliary aids for students; and making referrals to appropriate community and University services or agencies. The Learning Specialist will consult with faculty and staff regarding the implementation of reasonable accommodations and services; develop and present disability awareness programs and training opportunities for the University community; and collaborate with other offices and outside agencies, as needed and as appropriate.
Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and or equivalent combination of education and or experience plus a minimum of two years' experience in a disability services office in higher education.

Equipment Utilized: Knowledge and familiarity with various assistive technologies that students with disabilities use daily within the classroom environment is necessary. The Learning Specialist is expected to stay current with the changes and development in assistive technology. This position requires strong computer skills and effective use of various software.
Salary: Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, within university policy and salary schedules, as well as departmental budgets.
