Description: The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the University of Houston invites applications for a full-time (9-month), non-tenure track Lecturer in Aerospace Design and Space Systems beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s growing aerospace and space systems programs through excellence in teaching and curriculum development. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in areas such as aerospace design, spacecraft and mission design, space systems engineering, space robotics and autonomy, and space operations. The lecturer is also expected to contribute to the aerospace design sequence and engage in mentoring student projects and capstone design activities. The MAE Department offers a minor in Aerospace Engineering at the undergraduate level, a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering, a Master of Science in Space Architecture, and dual degree pathways with Mechanical Engineering. The department is actively expanding its aerospace and space systems footprint, leveraging its proximity to NASA Johnson Space Center and strong partnerships with the regional aerospace and energy industries. The Cullen College of Engineering plays a central role in the University of Houston’s Carnegie Tier One research mission. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the time of application. Experience with aerospace design instruction, capstone project supervision, or space systems related coursework is desirable. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required.
