Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applicants for a nine-month non-tenure track lecturer position in German to begin August 2026.
This position is renewable annually, contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding, with the possibility of promotion based on experience and performance. There may be an opportunity to contribute to summer teaching and/or lead study abroad programs for additional compensation.
Primary responsibilities will include teaching four courses per semester in a face-to-face format at the introductory level, as well as other courses based on departmental needs and the expertise of the selected candidate. Additional responsibilities will include contributing to service within the section, department, university, community, and/or profession, as well as mentoring undergraduate students studying German and serving as faculty advisor to the German Club.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Master's degree in German or a closely related field with at least 18 hours of graduate study in German completed at the time of application
- Experience in teaching German as instructor of record at the college/university level
- Native or near-native proficiency in German and English
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Evidence of knowledge of language pedagogy and its application through impactful teaching methodologies
- Evidence of excellence in teaching effectiveness
