Position Details
Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:
The successful candidate will teach sections of an integrated science course called Foundations of Science which focuses on critical thinking, the nature of science, and key concepts and theories from biology, geology, physics, and astronomy. This novel course was developed as our university’s Quality Enhancement Plan to enhance critical thinking and scientific literacy, as well as promote student appreciation of science as a reliable “way of knowing.” The lecturer can also teach introductory courses in biology such as Environmental Science and Contemporary Biology, on an as-need basis.
Educational Requirements for the Position:
Candidate must have a Masters or Doctorate degree in a relevant field, such as science education, environmental science, biology, or earth science. Applicants should be passionate about the importance of science education in fostering scientifically literate society

Additional responsibilities may include serving as a liaison with the College of Education to promote the recruitment of STEM students, as well as developing a Science Methods course for students seeking certification in science education. As part of the Foundations of Science team, the lecturer will also assist in the collection and analysis of assessment data pertaining to the course.
