Position Description
Responsibilities:
- Teaching courses including applied cello and related areas (such as chamber music coaching, string pedagogy and literature)
- Teaching courses in a secondary area of specialization such as music education, foundation studies (music theory/aural skills or music history), or conducting
- Service, including participation in university and/or departmental committees, activity in professional organizations, active recruitment and participation in outreach activities, and educational or creative activities that contribute to an active portfolio in the field
Required Experience
- Demonstrated excellence and experience in cello performance and teaching required (solo, chamber, and/or orchestral) required
- Evidence of qualification to teach in a secondary area (music education, music theory, or music history) required
- Evidence of an understanding of diverse and varied styles of repertoire and performance practice preferred.
Required Education
Master’s degree in cello performance and/or pedagogy required
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- A record of successful recruitment of cello students is preferred
- 3 years teaching experience in higher education preferred (teaching assistantship may be considered toward required experience)
- Doctoral degree in cello performance and/or pedagogy preferred

- High-quality video recording of teaching (cello) high-school of collegiate level student(s). Teaching videos should be 20-30 minutes in length.
Letters of reference will be requested at the time the candidate is invited for an on-campus interview
