Posting End Date: Applications review will begin immediately and will be open until position is filled. At the discretion of the hiring department, this position posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.
Salary Range: Up to $40,000-$73,600/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours: up to 40 hours per week, for 9 months of each year, exempt.
Seeking to fill a one (1) year fixed term track faculty appointment (i.e. non-tenure track).

Essential Functions
Teach up to four courses per semester in Civil Engineering (CE) and Engineering (EGR), such as Technical Communication (EGR 1403), Computer Applications in Civil Engineering (CE 2313), Numerical Methods in Civil Engineering (CE 3173), among others, at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The instructor's teaching duties will involve, but are not limited to:
- Develop lesson plans, course materials, and student assignments for the assigned courses,
- Provide classroom instruction, and assess students' progress by grading assignments, papers, exams, and other work.
- Respond to students' inquiries, provide advice/guidance to students on their courses and career plans, and perform service duties as assigned by the School/Department.
- Expected to have ample experience in one or more of the specialty areas in civil and environmental engineering, including environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, and water resources engineering.
- Engage actively with the civil and environmental engineering industries to expose students to real-life engineering activities.
This is a temporary position with an expected end date of 8/31/2028. This position may be extended or shortened based on availability of funds and/or departmental need.
Required Qualifications
Lecturer
- M.S. degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in civil engineering.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.
Senior Lecturer
- Ph.D. degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in civil engineering.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
Both levels
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to learn and use UTSA applications (e.g., Canvas, Bluebook, etc.).
- Willingness to work with others to develop joint courses and other educational programs.
- Expertise in AutoCad.
- Ability to code in Python, Mathematica, or other computational tools.

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
