Position Description
The Physical Sciences Department of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) at the University of Washington Bothell (UWB) invites applications from qualified candidates for a Lecturer Part Time (multi-year) appointment in Physics. We are seeking a candidate to join our faculty on a part-time basis with a base load of 50%, with potential for up to 88.89% depending on curricular need, for a 9-month service period with opportunities to teach during the summer. The position has an expectation of teaching between five courses (with the potential to increase up to eight courses depending on need) in the three quarters of the regular academic year. Positions in this title are non-tenure track, non-voting, and not promotion eligible. Appointments in these positions may be for multiple years (1-5 years), with an initial appointment of one year. Reappointments are contingent upon instructional needs, performance, and funding. The anticipated start date is Autumn Quarter, September 16, 2026.
The primary duties of a Lecturer Part-Time are instructional. Potential course assignments include introductory and upper-level core physics courses.
The successful candidate will have an FTE commensurate with the assigned workload. For context, one 5-credit course is equivalent to 33.33% FTE and one lab is 16.67% FTE in one. The full-time (100%) base salary is $7,200-7,716 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This full-time monthly rate is then prorated based on assigned FTE for the duration of the 9-month academic year.
