Lecturer Percussion

Job Summary

Reporting to the Chair of the Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music, the Lecturer of Percussion will be expected to 1) teach Applied Percussion and/or other related courses such as Percussion Ensemble, Percussion Techniques or Percussion Literature; 2) actively recruit potential music majors; 3) attend faculty meetings for the School of Music and the Instrumental Area; 4) serve on jury and recital hearing panels; and 5) fulfill other teaching duties as assigned by the Chair. This is a non-tenure track academic year appointment beginning August 1, 2026. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned Masters degree in Music Performance or Music Education, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Music Performance or Music Education, by August 1, 2026
  • Evidence of successful teaching of applied students at a collegiate level
  • Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives
  • Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Applied teaching of Drum Set
  • Ability to coach marching band percussion (drumline/front ensemble)
  • Ability to arrange for marching band percussion

Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
