About the position
This position sits within the Discipline of Speech Pathology in the Department of Community and Clinical Health. The Discipline of Speech Pathology offers a four-year Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Hons) degree and a two-year Master of Speech Pathology. Both programs received accreditation from Speech Pathology Australia in 2023.
A Level B with a teaching-focussed appointment is expected to develop curriculum, teach and support students in their learning. In addition, a teaching-focused academic will support the administrative functions of the discipline and undertake scholarly work relevant to the development of their discipline or professional field.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, subject coordination, and curriculum development.
- Sound analytical skills with an ability to communicate complex information clearly both orally and in writing.
- High level organisational skills with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, initiate and follow-up actions, all with minimal or no supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively with staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
DESIRABLE:
- Practice education experience including placement sourcing and supporting clinical educators and students engaging in clinical placements.
- Clinical and/or teaching experience in one or more of: literacy across the lifespan, paediatric speech and language, autism, adult developmental disability, or First Nations’ health.
- PhD or evidence of enrolment in a PhD or equivalent.
- Graduate Certificate in Higher Education or similar evidence of professional preparation for teaching in Higher Education
