Posting Summary
The Finance Area of Rutgers School of Business-Camden seeks applications for a Lecturer to teach an online course in Tax Planning and Financial Regulation, starting in Fall 2026. This position may extend beyond that term. The cross-listed course will be taught to both undergraduate and graduate students and will be delivered online in an asynchronous format. Its offering is subject to sufficient enrollment.
The Tax Planning and Financial Regulation course introduces students to the tax planning, financial regulation, and ethical standards topics that are included in the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam.
Tax planning topics include:
- Income tax fundamentals, law, and calculations
- Tax management techniques
- Taxation of businesses, trusts and estates, and property transactions
Financial regulation topics include:
- Fundamentals of financial institutions
- Financial services regulations and requirements
Ethics topics include:
- CFP Board Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct
- Fiduciary standard and application
The successful candidate will be responsible for building his or her own section of this existing course, which entails modifying the existing syllabus, vetting the current textbook, recording lecture videos, designing assessments, and organizing the course within Canvas, Rutgers’s Learning Management System, in accordance with the school’s guidelines for online teaching.
While teaching the course, the candidate is expected to:
- Check for student questions daily and respond within 24 hours
- Make weekly announcements regarding course content and upcoming deadlines
- Provide timely feedback on student work
- Facilitate student interactions
- Offer virtual office hours as needed
- Comply with grade submission policies and deadlines

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Applicants must possess an advanced degree in finance and/or CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) certification, in addition to a bachelor’s degree. Proven sustained engagement as a full-time professional or consultant in the areas of finance applicable to this position is required for future teaching assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of excellence in teaching, especially in an online environment, is preferred. Applied tax planning experience is desired.
