Lectureship in Interior Architecture

The School of Architecture + Cities is one of the leading schools of architecture in the UK. Situated in the centre of London, the School enjoys large, purpose-built and newly refurbished studios and a recently commissioned Fabrication Laboratory featuring extensive digital and analogue workshops. It also benefits from being part of a wider, collaborative College of Design, Creative and Digital Industries. The School offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in architecture, interiors and cognate disciplines, characterised by a triangulation of teaching, practice and research combined with a commitment to embracing new technologies and innovation in design. The 2024 OPEN catalogue is available here.

Building on its existing success the School of Architecture + Cities is seeking to appoint a Full Time Lecturer to teach Interior Architecture. This appointment is an opportunity to contribute to studio teaching, undertake module leadership, course development, exhibitions and public-facing outputs, as well as responsibilities in admissions and personal tutoring. Applicants with particular skill-sets and expertise, such as in making, knowledge of materials, time-based media, exhibition, set and experience design, would be at an advantage. In addition, the post-holder will be expected to actively support our diverse student body, enhance professional engagement, expand digital capabilities, as well as address the climate emergency and contribute to the culture of the wider School.

Professional experience and understanding of interior architecture and design related disciplines is essential, together with a Post-Graduate Degree (or an equivalent level of knowledge), teaching experience in higher education and/or relevant professional experience (e.g. in practice) and a proven research background. The person specification sets out the full details of the skills, knowledge and experience required in order to successfully fulfil this role.
